57.5% of companies say more of their deals are competitive than a year ago. Only 16% say the pressure eased.

A competitive intelligence agent watches three to five competitors across a fixed set of public sources and sends your team one short digest every week.
It exists so you find out about a competitor's move from a report — not from a customer on a sales call.
You'll learn the five setup decisions that make it work, and the 15-minute weekly ritual that turns its output into decisions.
Below is the full breakdown, from why this matters now to the agent you can set up this week.

1. Your Deals Got More Competitive. Your Visibility Didn't.
Most founders assume competitive pressure is a later-stage problem — something to worry about once there's a sales team and a pipeline review. The data says it's already here.
Crayon's 2026 State of Competitive Intelligence report, now in its ninth edition, found that 57.5% of respondents see more competitive deals than a year earlier, while only 16% say competition eased. Differentiation is getting harder, and every category is getting noisier.
Now look at how teams keep up. In Crayon's research, less than a third of competitive intelligence programs engage with sales on a daily or weekly basis, and 44% of companies have no competitor visibility inside their CRM.
The most telling detail is the gap between those two findings. The market moves weekly. Most teams check it quarterly — or when something goes wrong.
→ Competition got faster. Most teams' visibility didn't.
For a founder, this gap is wider than for anyone else. You don't have a competitive intelligence team. You have yourself, a few tabs you mean to check, and a vague feeling that a competitor has been quiet for too long.
