Real decks do. They show what a team chose to put in front of investors, buyers or public markets when money was on the line, and what it chose to leave out.

That's why we put together a collection of 23 real decks released over the last two years. They range from a $200K pre-seed round to an $8B media merger. This article covers what's inside, the patterns worth copying, and a simple method to use them on your own deck.

What's inside the collection

The 23 decks weren't all written for the same reader. Most were used to raise venture capital. Others were built for public-market investors, acquirers or advertisers. Here's how they break down by the deal each one was made for:

  • Pre-seed and angel (2): NOQX, RAW

  • Seed (6): Megamod, Noto, Nen, Feel Therapeutics, Tappa, Goodcarbon

  • Series A (7): Vapi, Lago, Cloudsmith, Nanonets, Recraft, Soaak, Chamberlain Coffee (Series A extension)

  • Series B (3): Perplexity, Vibe, Creatio

  • IPO and SPAC (2): Reddit, Oklo

  • M&A (2): Skydance and Paramount, AuditBoard

  • Sales (1): Amazon Prime Video Ads

The 23 decks by deal type

Sixteen of the 23 are startup fundraising decks, so most founders will find several at their own stage. The other seven are there on purpose: they show how the same kind of story changes when the reader is a public-market investor, a buyer or a customer.

The sectors are just as varied: AI, developer tools, billing, health, climate, consumer brands, gaming and media. AI sits at the core of 8 of the 23 companies, which says a lot about where capital has been going.

In the rest of this article you'll find what the data says about how long investors actually spend on a deck, how big the rounds in this collection were, five patterns that repeat across the decks, a reading guide by stage, a five-step method to improve your own deck, and the full collection attached as a file.
